I found your website and saw StudioRack and wanted to ask you a few, maybe quite a few, questions.  I hope you don’t mind helping me by answering my questions.

1.  Is StudioRack an upgrade of CastBlaster or a replacement product?

2.  I noticed you are up to v .08 for StudioRack, and I was curious if this product is still being worked on and development of StudioRack is continuing?

3.  How often do you expect upgrades and/or updates to be made available for StudioRack?

4.  Do you provide support for StudioRack?  Meaning, if I experience any issues in the future or questions, etc., are you or someone else available to help?  Is this something you expect to continue for a long time?

(Note:  I just don't want to pay for a piece of software that will be discontinued in the near future and no further developments will be made and no support will be available for the product.  So, this is important to me.)

5.  Is StudioRack still in BETA?  Or is this a formal release?  If it's still a BETA, when do you expect a formal release to come out?

6.  If I purchase StudioRack now, will I have to pay for any updates or upgrades in the future?  Please explain.

7.  Does StudioRack also work with Windows 7, and will it work with newer operating systems for the PC?

8.  Does StudioRack use LAME MP3 Encoder?  I heard Cliff Ravenscraft talking about CastBlaster and how it didn't handle the quality of low bit recordings very well. He was saying that he had to reprocess his low bit recordings before bringing them into CastBlaster because of this and I was curious if StudioRack had the same issues?  Can you explain about this and these concerns?

I like the look and the way StudioRack seems to function from a Usability standpoint.  So, that's all good.  I just want to make sure that the "sound quality" of my sound files, sound effects, phone conversation recordings, etc., will all sound great.  Please let me know how StudioRack processes these types of files so the quality is as good as it can be.

Thanks,
Gary Gordon

1. After writing CastBlaster I wanted a more professional version, which became StudioRack.

2. I make some minor changes now and then (as a good friend of mine uses it), but it really does everything it is supposed to. Maybe I will eventually incorporate it into VidBlaster.

3. No idea.

4. I'm answering you now?

5. Technically it is in beta.

6. No idea.

7. It works with W7.

8. No. StudioRack uses a new engine and has no technical relation to CastBlaster.

Trust this helps. I won't go through another list of questions and that's taking up too much of my time. If you'd download the trial you can get the answers to your technical questions anyway, best deal I can offer.

Mike,

You said "I won't go through another list of questions and that's taking up too much of my time."

In reviewing other posts and your reply (and sometimes lack of reply) .. in addition to the comment above, I get the feeling like you really prefer not to help your customers when they have questions or issues.

Telling me that you won't go through another list of questions .. because it takes up too much of your time .. simply makes me feel like you're not interested in helping your community of people that purchase your product.

And, when you said "I make some minor changes now and then (as a good friend of mine uses it), but it really does everything it is supposed to." ... I get the impression that your friend is the driving force behind any enhancements you may decide to make.

I'm just saddened by your reply to this posting as well as others that I've read.

You also said "If you'd download the trial you can get the answers to your technical questions anyway, best deal I can offer."  Just so you know, .. I did download the trial and that's when my questions came up.  I didn't see any HELP manual, etc. provided with or in the app.    I also didn't understand what you meant by "best deal I can offer."  Does that mean .. I should download the app and leave you alone?  Meaning, stop asking questions?

I also saw that FatherRoderick posted a couple questions in your BUG REPORTS area .. and NEVER received a reply.  Can you explain why you wouldn't have replied?

I just wanted you to know that even though your product shows promise and I was potentially interested in buying it, the comments that were included in your reply to my posting as well as what I saw from you in other postings, just makes me feel like .. well ..... you may or may not always be willing to help if I encounter an issue.

I'll have to really think about this and maybe look around for another solution.

I hope you take this as constructive feedback.

Mike,

Another thing .. is there any reason why StudioRack doesn't allow a scroll bar to appear if you want to put more sound effects on the screen then it will allow to show in one screen?  Meaning, let's say I want to have 100 sound clips loaded .. and maybe have to scroll down to get to some of them .. is there any way you might consider adding this functionality to StudioRack?  This way we wouldn't be limited to just what we can see on one screen worth of space.  Please let me know.

As you already suggested yourself I agree you should look for an alternative program as I will be unable to meet your support demands.
